the happening world / but they seemed so normal

Today is the sixty-first anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident — you know, the one that never quite seems to go away no matter how the Air Force "explains" it. Was it a weather balloon? A lost Soviet satellite? Crash test dummies? Hell, I dunno. Whatever it was that really happened out there in 1947, however, the one thing I do know is that the Roswell Incident has provided me with two decades of peerless entertainment. Here's to the truth — whatever it is. Watch the skies!

TOLERANCE ALERT! The evil, biased Republican propaganda machine at the Fox News affiliate in Atlanta reports on the latest incident of Folks Just Like You 'N' Me™ murdering their kids:

A Georgia man appeared in court Monday on charges he killed his own daughter for disgracing his family.

Chaudhry Rashid, wearing a red jumpsuit and shackles around his ankles, went before Chief Judge Daphne Walker at the Clayton County Magistrate Court where he was arraigned on a murder charge. [ ... ] The 25-year-old victim, Sandeela Kanwal, was wed in Pakistan in an arranged marriage. Police said Kanwal hadn't seen her husband, who lives in Chicago, for months.

According to police, there was "friction between father and victim" in the weeks leading up to the killing. Rashid had not spoken to his daughter in more than two months. Police said Rashid was so angered that his daughter planned to divorce her husband that he killed her after a heated argument at the family's home...

Police who arrived at the scene said they found Rashid's two sons at the end of the driveway and their father sitting behind a car smoking a cigarette. Officers said that Rashid appeared "distraught and possibly mournful" and told police "my daughter is dead" when they arrived.

After entering the home, Kanwal's body was discovered in the doorway of a bedroom, cold to the touch, officials said.

A police report said that there were possible "ligature marks" indicating strangulation on the victim and noted that an iron and cord had been found near her body. A necklace was also found on a table downstairs, according to the report.

Rashid was taken to the Clayton County jail where he reportedly confessed to strangling Kanwal.
Hmmm, now what major religion is known for its "honor killings"? Could be be the Quakers? The Unitarians? The Rastafarians? Or could it be The Faith That Must Not Be Named®?

Keep looking the other way, America. The Bad Guys will go away if you just refuse to look at them.

The only reason Roswell doesn't "Go Away" is because there's a world of idiots who believe anything.

hey, what?

Here's the thing. I have no idea if the '47 crash was real or not, if the AAC/AF was involved, if there was a TERRIBLE SECRET that MUST NEVER BE SPOKEN involved or any of that.

Something happened, and NONE of the tales told to explain it away have held up. Even if you discount the debunkers dubunking the offical line (which of course the offical line is say ANYTHING to discredit the UFO angle), stuff still isn't adding up. No paper trail. "all the documents pertaining to the secret tests we're referencing were classified until a year ago, and were shredded. Sorry"

So, who knows?

It's like the Face on Mars kerfluffle. There's something odd there, but for every "and THIS angle clearly proves it's just these rocks" there's another "but THIS picture, what is going on there? and there? and here?". We'll never really KNOW until we GO there and walk around the thing and touch it... It's like water on Mars. Just a couple years ago the offical line was "Ohhh, NOOOO, there's no chance whatsoever there's water on Mars, except for a small amount at the poles. NO POSSIBLE WAY there's any water out there" and now? "gee, golly, that movie Robinson Caruso on Mars might be the most accurate portrayal of the Red Planet ever!"

Well, except for the Oxygen outgassing rocks...

Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before.

However, if personal experience has taught me one thing over and over and over again, it's that it's a world of idiots who believe anything. And all I have to do is point to any discussion of religion or politics to prove it.

To sum up: UFOs? Maybe. World of Idiots? Unarguable truth.

The practice is everywhere in most of Asia and the Middle East, and unfortunately and even Christians do it sometimes. It's also a practice that has existed as long as there has been "dishonor" and discrimination against women, there have been honor killings. It's quite sad. :(

As far as Roswell, I'm not sure what to believe. Sure, there might be aliens out there, but I surely don't believe they are little green men :p

Hi! I just Friended you, and added your blog to my reader, at the suggestion of [info]baron_waste. I don't know how he found you, but he knew I'd want to see your LJ. Like you, I'm uberrightwing, anti-Islam, and a monarchist. (You can see my monarchist blog here.) Also, I lived for five years in Texas! Now I'm back in Atlanta, but boy do I miss Texas. And I love manga and anime, one more thing you and I have in common.

You don't have to Friend me back, of course, but when I saw your LJ I knew I had to start reading it.

Oh, and there's a really good book about the Roswell Incident called UFO Crash at Roswell: The Genesis of a Modern Myth.
